A Car older than three years must undergo a test called the MOT test- Ministry of transport. Regulated and authorized by the government to check the roadworthiness of your vehicle. Annually performed test for proving it is safe to be driven on the road.

MOT Wychnor is a basic inspection of all the parts of your car that provides you safety. Starting from tyres, windows, mirrors, belts, wipers, headlights, steering, brakes, and many more. Some Of The Reasons Why People Fail At Their Mot Test-

  1. One of the most popular reasons for failing the MOT test is the dirty car. If your car is dirty from the inside, the chances of failing are high. Before you go in for your MOT test, clean your car from inside, and don’t forget to give a quick wipe at your windows.
  2. There shouldn’t be any stickers on the driver’s side of the windshield. A good vision of the road is required for drivers. If you have any stickers on the driver’s side, remove them before going in for the test.
  3. Your registration plate must be perfect. Font/size should be correct, there shouldn’t be dirt or any letter missing from the plate.

Some Things Can Help You Pass Your Mot Test –

Remember to not get caught up by any of the points mentioned above. After checking them, you must check the points given below to successfully pass your test on the first hit.

  1. Make sure your brake lights and headlights are working properly. Your tyres shouldn’t be excessively worn out, they should have at least 1.6mm tread depth. Additionally, your tyres shouldn’t be damaged or have bulged out the sidewall.
  2. Check and clean the seats. Check the working seat belts, it shouldn’t be broken.
  3. There shouldn’t be any crack or scratch bigger than 10mm on the driver’s side of the windshield.
  4. You should ensure that the wipers clean the windshield properly.
  5. The suspensions of your car must be working properly. Put your weight to each corner of the automobile and rapidly release it to check the shock absorbers. The car's corner should return to its original position shortly. If it bounces more than twice, the shock absorbers may be broken and need to be replaced.
  6. Check the horn as well. It should be loud and clear.
  7. Change the engine oil and there should be enough fuel in your car.
  8. Start the engine in a well-ventilated area at a normal temperature, then listen for any strange noises or anomalous smoke from the back of the vehicle.

If you try to ignore any of the points, you might fail your test. Based on three categories you receive a pass-

  1. If your car has dangerous issues, you won’t be permitted to drive it anyway.
  2. If your car has major, but not risking your safety issues, you might be permitted after you get your car serviced.
  3. If your car has minor issues, you can get them fixed and give a retest to receive MOT passed certification to make your vehicle roadworthy.

Driving without an MOT certification is considered equivalent to a crime. Do not try to drive without the passING certificate, you might lose your license.

Even after checking everything, you might fail at MOT, there are chances of undergoing a re-test. It is recommended to get your car serviced before getting your MOT test. Even in general, it is suggested to get your car serviced regularly. Minor problems and issues are easier to deal with. Fixing complex issues can be tough and costlier.
