Mounting and Dismounting of Tyres

Tyres are the only element in a car that is in contact with the road and withstand all kinds of uneven roads, potholes and stony tracks. They are subjected to a lot of stress and hence it is advisable to be replaced during regular intervals to ensure their life span. The rubber in any tyre should also be removed and changed from the rim. This could only be done by specialists by using a special machine. These special tools like a bead breaker or a mounting arm are available at garages for mounting and fitting the tyres properly.

Process of Mounting Tyres

  1. Remove the rubber in the old tyre before placing a new Tyres Nottingham onto the rim. This step is done manually, which is followed by the next step which involves the use of a mounting machine.
  1. The employee at the garage lifts the car with the help of a jack to be able to remove the wheel fixated on the axle.
  1. The air from the tyre is then released by unscrewing the valve of the tyre.
  1. The bead breaker is made to detach the wall of the tyre from the rim. This is done by placing the tool on the tyre along with the rim and then it is pressed down. The tyre is turned once then and the entire process is carried out again.
  1. This step of dismantling ensures that the inner ring of the tyre called the tyre bead is completely pressed over the hump of the rim.
  1. The rim is then clamped in the mounting machine and the balance weights are removed from the rim.
  1. The tyre bead is then positioned over the mounting arm using the mounting lever.
  1. The mounting machine is then rotated and the tyre automatically gets pulled off the rim by the push of a button.

Before mounting the new tyre, the garage technician should evaluate the size and age of the tyre. The tyre beads are first coated on the inside and the outside with grease or a tyre mounting paste. This is done to ease the process of pulling the tyre. The rims are then clamped on the mounting machine and the mounting arm is utilised to place the tyres lower flank on the upper edge of the rim. The tyre is pulled onto the rim with the mounting machine.

The process is repeated for the tyres upper flank. The tyre is pressed under the rim hump to make sure that the tyre is firmly installed. The tyre is now ready to be filled with air to make the tyre beads press against the rim and that air does not escape.

The tyre is then inflated with air to the correct tyre pressure before shutting its valve. Post the mounting the tyres, they are balanced by fitting weights to balance on the rim. This helps in checking for any kind of vibration on the steering wheel along with ensuring the mileage and comfort.

Mobile Tyre Fitting Nottingham has also always been a great option for immediate remedy and treatment of your tyres when stuck in an emergency.

You should be aware of the condition of your tyres and change them before they are irreplaceable. You could physically check for any wear or also check the minimum depth of the tread. Also, it is important to keep in mind that frequent dismounting and mounting of tyres adds stress to the rubber and the rim. This could thereby affect its longevity as well.
